A Dip In The Ocean

A Dip in The Ocean

The goal for this project is for the listener to feel like they’re walking down the beach and going for a swim. I did not simply record myself walking down the beach, I built this soundtrack. Sounds were gathered from BBC.org and freesound.org. The editing programs I used for this project are Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere Pro.

It starts off quiet then becomes progressively louder as sounds begin to layer upon one another. These sounds include the weight of the sand, murmurs from fellow beach-goers, children playing, the wind, seagulls, and lifeguards. The ocean waves and splashing sounds become more distinct as well. Even as the water becomes the louder source, human activity and seagulls can still be heard vaguely in the background. Towards the ending, it becomes quieter again, just as this clip began.
